dPractices for children and teenagers

Aikido is suitable for children and teenagers as the danger of injury is low. Of course, the classes are especially adapted to the needs of children and teenagers. In the main points it is not different from the adults’ practice.

Special attention is given to the steps and the correct way to fall. Breathing and concentration exercises are also a regular part of a class. The classes take place in a relaxed atmosphere, in which the children and youths can feel comfortable. The children are made familiar with the dojo rules and learn to behave with respect towards themselves and others.

There are no competitions in Aikido. Twice a year there are Kyu tests for children / teenagers who are ready to take them. From the age of 14 – 15 teenagers are permitted to join adult classes, the instructors help with the transition.

The minimum age for children is 7.
